I just bought a used 97 S10 WITH 140,233 Miles,I don;t beleive the Auto transmission 4 speed
OD, Has been serviced for some time, I was wondering if a drop pan and filter change or just a
drain and fill, I have heard that older trannys that have been fully serviced does more damage
do to wear already done, and clean fluid will just let things start slipping? any input too this?

I understand why people the "let sleeping dogs lie" type regard, but...there is something to be said of putting it in a condition that we could expect another 100,000 miles out of~ if it is working fine, perhaps there are more serious concerns here like the timing belt or chain and it's tensioner....does it sound like a can of marbles or just smoooooth runnin'?
No No, Runs Fine! Just bought it yesterday,drove it home 35 miles, Shifts fine, No ticks, or Pings, Just wanting another 10000 out of her, lol, I am going to do a radiator full flush, water looks dingy, or rust tint,,so it needs done, Oil is clean,"wonder"..lol Just trying to save it..before

...okay, but just dispose of the coolant in a responsible fashion...birds drink the little pools of green stuff and die, gallon milk jugs with a funnel...take them to the autoparts store~....please.~ the world has enough unavoidable deaths every moment~

3 years ago, I had Grease Pro do my trans fluid for about $115.00. What they did was use a machine to force out all the old Trans Fluid as the New Trans Fluid was forced in. I couldn't believe what I saw, Black as Coal, come out of my trans as the new fluid was forced in. Same Year, Same Mileage as yours.... 170,000 mi. now and still running strong ! Good Luck !

No, they did not change anything. All they did was attach their machine to the Transmission lines coming from my radiator and pump in the new fluid. You can see the old fluid being forced out back to their macine thru a clear tube. I believe it took 15 qts. of new fluid being forced in. That's why is was so expensive , but worth it! Took about 20-25 minutes to do...! De Bo
Yup, I seen where mine was like 14/16 qts,I was like what! What happen too 5qt. Then seen where there'd be some in catalytic converter, an Tran cooler,I have apt tomorrow.
if u do decide go with lucas transmission fluid it will coat the old bearing faster and longer make sure u use the correct amount
Ok, is that what u would us? I'm still finding how much I need, not sure yet,

Done a lot of transmission flushes at work. It seems like they are putting 14-16qts in but that's just how many quarts are being flushed through the tranny to make sure it gets as clean as possible. You still only have as many quarts as it needs in the end. The more quarts you flush through it the cleaner it gets. Hope that helps.
