Chevy S10 knocking noise

Asked by Matthew Jan 25, 2017 at 12:29 PM about the 1997 Chevrolet S-10 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok i have this knocking noise coming from my
motor but ive noticed my oil pressure has
decreased to the red line on the left as soon as i
push clutch in and let off gas. I have been trying to
figure out what it could be and im not making any
progress my oil pressure never sits where it is
supposed to but i cant find any leaks cracks or
holes that would cause oil pressure to not hold.
Any help would be amazing cuz im self employed
and this is my only mode of transportation for me
my fiance and our son.

Usually when you get to the point of knocking the damage has already been done. You could have a bad oil pump, oil pressure also goes down when your crank bearings are worn out (knocking). I'm assuming you has coolant in the oil before? That's why most do the intake gasket. When coolant gets in the oil it's usually a death sentence for a motor.
