Transmission not shifting

Asked by jt8326 Aug 24, 2019 at 03:41 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've got an '02 Trailblazer. The owner we purchased it from said that he had the transmission replaced with one that had approx 80,000 miles on it.  A couple weeks ago the check engine came on and the tach shot up to 4000 rpm. I put the OBD2 on it and it coded for the VVT. I replaced it and the code cleared. It still was not shifting. I replaced both Shifting Solenoids thinking one of them was the issue, and it's still not shift. I'm at a loss as to what to check next.

What are the actually 4 digit code you have now? Installing a used Transmission is like rolling the dice. Sometimes you get one that works well and one that doesn't. Have you thought about having a transmission shop look it over?

That's the thing, it's not coding at all right now. I'm trying to avoid that if possible.

VVT codes like P0014 are normally indicating of poor oil quality. Meaning, change your oil, and code will go away a high percentage of the time. For your tranny, a lot of us use this, hope it's your TPS! Good luck. http://twincharlotte.com/blog/30-common-4l60e-transmission-problems-repair-charlotte-nc/
