1990 Ford F250

Can a 1977 C6 Auto transmission be used in a 1990 F250 with a fuel injected 4.9l inline 6? If so what would happen when no transmission is hooked to computer? If not I guess I would have to change it to carburetor.

Since this is not an OBD2 truck I suspect it is possible. Personally I would want a 4 speed E40D as the 3 speed C6 will probably hurt your fuel economy and top speed.
