1990 ford f250 straight 6

Sitting at drive thru and the truck died. It had a little
less than a 1/4 tank. Added a little gas thinking
gauge could be off. Tried starting it and it keeps
turning over. Tried spraying starter fluid  in carb,
still did not fire up. I'm thinking it could be cool.  
Could someone please help me figure this out?

Just gotta do the basics, check for spark, fuel, and air. Instead of ether try a capful of gas in the carb, if nothing then focus on timing and spark. If you have injectors a noid light will check for proper pulse.
