runs at 4000 rpm wont idle down

Sounds like a vacuum leak or stuck IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. Try tapping on the IAC with a screwdriver or a small hammer. If the idle returns to normal the IAC is bad. Also, make sure the throttle cable isn't binding and preventing the throttle plates from closing. Check for a disconnected or broken vacuum hose too. Hope that helps! Jim
