fuel pump location 2004 f150 supercrew cab

Asked by seamusz Jul 23, 2018 at 12:27 PM about the 2004 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'd like to remove the bed of my pickup to get to my fuel pump. It's a 4 door
supercrew cab. Will the fuel pump still be accessible under the bed with this
cab?

I BELIEVE THE FUEL PUMP WILL BE EASY TO GET TO WITH THE BED OFF, HOWEVER I HAVE REPLACED MANY BY REMOVING ALL BED BOLTS BUT 2 , THOSE 2 BOLTS ARE LEFT IN BUT RUN OUT AS FAR AS THEY CAN GO AND STILL HOLD BY A FEW THREADS, I USE MY MOTOR HOIST TO PICK UP ONE SIDE OF THE BED, AFTER I JACK UP THE BED I SECURE IT JUST IN CASE THE HOIST FAILS. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY,AND FUEL FILTER SHOULD BE REPLACED, AND A SUPER GOOD FUEL PUMP SOCK IS A MUST, (FORD MOTOR CRAFT SOCK), MANY AFTER MARKET PUMP SOCKS COME APART INSIDE AND DESTROY THE NEW FUEL PUMP. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GEAR, AND A WELL VENTED AREA, AWAY FROM ALL POSSIBLE IGNITE POINTS. GOOD LUCK, MIKE

Partially. You can see the fuel pump once bed is removed, but it is actually under the cab portion of the truck. You still have to drop the fuel tank to remove.
