unusual vibration in 2004 f150

Asked by Hatless Aug 12, 2020 at 03:54 AM about the 2004 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 F150 lariat 5.4 triton V8.  In the past month or two it has had a
unusual vibration but only while it is warming up to normal operating
temperature.  By unusual i mean more violently than normal for it.  It only
happens when it is warming up, once it warms up it acts normal.  One time
that i was accelerating it started shaking really bad and the check engine
light did come on and flashing but went away after ten seconds.  I originally
thought maybe it was the oil since it had been siting a lot since covid started
and my college closed, it would get used like once or twice a week but i
would crank it up for 5 mins every other day just to have it run though.  But i
thought maybe it was the oil just needing to be changed but i had it changed
two weeks ago and it is still doing this so i don't know what it might be.  Also
there are NO lights saying something is wrong. Also i believe it has nothing
to do with tires cause the tires are new, got them in November last year, and
they don't seem low.

Scan for codes. Most likely a bad coil or spark plugs in need of replacement.
