No power on acceleration

I have a 2002 f150 xlt 4.2 engine that won't accelerate
after a while it will start to go , I've checked fuel
pressure, new fuel filter ,aic controler , spark plugs
and fuel regulator as far as a new gas cap for kicks ,
I'm stumped  ? Please dose someone else know
whats going on Rigo

Check your ignition timing. If it's severely retarded (late) the engine will lack power and, usually, run hot. If you have a valve tap the knock sensor could be picking it up and retarding the ignition timing. If that's not the case a worn timing chain will retard the valve timing and ignition timing. Resetting the ignition timing in this case will not solve the problem. The timing chain and sprockets will have to be replaced. Hope that helps! Jim
