2001 F-150 Won't Start - Replaced Battery

Asked by Matt Mar 09, 2015 at 08:57 PM about the 2001 Ford F-150 XLT Crew Cab 4WD SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 F-150 Supercrew 4WD.  I just replaced the battery and it still acts as if
the battery is dead.  There is also a small noise coming from the driver's side engine
bay that sound like someone flicked a spring door stopper.  The starter will not even
turn over.  It was replaced about 3 or 4 years ago.  It was running fine just the day
before and now it won't do anything.  All of the lights in the cabin turn off completely
when I turn the key as if something it taking all power from the truck.  Normally, they
just dim as the truck starts.

you might want to check all the connections from battery to starter, solenoid, and alternator. My guess is the solenoid is bad. also check the starter relays. their in the fuse box on drivers engine compartment, could be the noise your hearing.

We have replaced the starter, the battery, the starter relay and have check the fuses under the hood and they are okay. When you turn the key on all it does is click.

You might have bad electrical connections at the battery or at the starter. I would clean them up real good and if you can't tighten the battery connections I would replace the cables.

Another possibility is that your new starter is no good. If you run out of things to check you could pull it and have it tested. If you run a jumper wire directly from the battery to the starter and it works then you have narrowed the problem down.

Mine just fixed itself which is very odd. No idea how. But now my engine doesn't get any fuel now. So it's a wierd predicate makes me miss my dodge.
