Why do I have to press the hazard button to get my truck to go into reverse?

Asked by Guru94YQZC Sep 08, 2020 at 05:26 PM about the 1995 Ford F-150 XLT 4WD LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

For some reason we couldn't get the truck into
reverse. My aunt somehow figured out, if you
press down the hazard button on top of the
steering colum, it will go in gear and you can turn
the hazards back off. Any idea why or how that is
connected and how to fix it?

Or a problem with the brake lights or brake light switch.
