as for the ses light it is normal for it to come on,does it stay on or go off at start up,other sounds like the cat converter is stoped up.

ok, Is it normanl to flash 3 times, I thought normally it would once illuminate and then go out. Also its a 302 v-8 which I left out, I felt exhaust it seemed forceful and hot, is there a more precise way to tell?

flashing seems right,as for the cat most shopes will do this for free,is called the drill test drill a 3/8 hole in down pipe befor cat converter drive it see if it is better or the same, eather weild the hole or put a screw in it.
