Question type: Car Customization

I want to install A/C in my truck so bad. I go to the truck junk yard and all F150 like mine
have A/C. If i install the complete A/C kit, will it work. i understand that any part might be
bad because where i removed the kit from. Has anyone done this before. Thank You

Oh man! You're looking at a big job. The best I can suggest is to use your phones video recorder and study study study all the manuals you can. Or maybe install a under the dashboard unit, if they still make them. Good luck. BTW sweet looking ride.

Buying junk, you run the risk of some component being bad- but the odds are good that you could get lucky, hook it all up, and only have to add the refrigerant, or maybe just replace a hose- if you buy a junk compressor, however, you're screwed

Thank you, i tried looking at the under dash kits but none fit my truck .I checked LMC truck Ford and all A/C replace parts runs for about $700 if the truck came with A/C. The junk yard gives me everything for $200.My plan is to buy everything at the JY and install it.Then replace all parts new from LCM. I'm also using my friend's help and car shop for free. I wouldn't want to let this opportunity go by. Thank You BohoMark and jamnblues

Bad idea gpardo. There is a good possibility every component under the hood and in the dash (sealed system) is contaminated. If you spend two hundred bucks, then find out the compressor is bad, well, you'll be at seven hundred bucks replacing the compressor and accumuator, and figure on freon. I take it you already have a set of decent guages and a vacuum pump.

Pull whatever you need as far as dash components from the donor truck. Do the same for engine components as it relates to mounting brackets for the compressor plus any other brackets for pulleys and mounting devices for the accumulator. Make sure you have mounting hdwe for evaporator and condenser. Purchase components for the system, like compressor, lines, etc., all new. Don't mess with 26 year old ac parts. You're looking for problems.
