rumor has it that it could be your vacuum modulator, or vacuum to the vacuum modulator...I always suggest silicone vacuum lines like one may find on a BMW or from summit racing or performance shops, seen a length of the flesh colored stuff for nine bucks from gates rubber~ This is the damned thing that makes it switch gears on time, better scoot down there and check it's operation~

I'm so confused, the accelerator position sensor equates to the throttle position sensor according to FORD~ here's a dandy cartoon of the motor showing the tps, for what good it's doing us~

go into auto zones website look up the throttle position sensor here in rhode island thier 40 somthing dollars. but click on it and it will tell you that it can screw up the shift points. would have a lot to do with starting and idel plus lack of power. i have an 85 with a 4.9 but this truck came through with 2 diffrent tps. one you just install, the other needs an ohm meter to set in the right position. yours i have no idea good luck paul

test it and see if it's bein' a bad boy (leakin' to ground, erratic output) if screwed up...replace~ not sure how the computer takes the reading from this human-meets computer troublesome device~
