I just had to pull over before my engine got to the
red zone do I add coolant while the engine is hot or
do I wait for the engine to cool down all I got is
water on me
You add the coolant or what every you got while the engine is running! when it is hot.
If the reason you overheated was due to low coolant, then yes. If your thermostat is stuck closed, or other issue, let the engine cool down, add water, and then drive again till it gets close to overheating and pull over again, and repeat till you get where your going. You can also call AAA.
Don't take the cap off, add it to your overflow tank and it should suck it in.
I would like to know the out-come of this, please post back and let us know what happen.
