Question type: Maintenance & Repair

As stated I have a 97 F250 7.3l automatic. I have
just replaced the starter, soloniod, and batteries
are a couple months old, cleaned connections,
have 12.6 volts at batteries, soloniod, and starter.
All fuses good. When jumping the soloniod still just
a click. Ran a wire from the soloniod to the ignition
wire connection on the starter, still just a click. Ran
a wire from the positive to the ignition wire on the
soloniod, still just a click. Wiggled the gear stick,
and key in ignition, while trying to start. Still
nothing. I'm stumped. Any help would be
awesome.

If the starter solenoid just clicks then either it is bad or the starter is bad. Check for corrosion on the battery cables. I have seen them so eaten up from corrosion that the starter could not get enough juice to actually work.

As I have stated the starter and soloniod are both brand new. Changed due to this problem.

If it does not work then something is wrong! Yes? No? I doubt you have a new starter but a rebuilt one and a lot of rebuilt starters are complete crap. Have it tested to eliminate that possibility.

Check your wires and maybe replace them and check the engine ground strap.

The first starter I bought was a reman, clicked, took it back, tested, exchanged it for a brand new one not remaned

That is good. All that is left is the wiring and switches.

So, cleaned the grounds, and replaced the ignition switch. Still click at the starter. Motor turns freely. Took the starter out, got a new one, again. I'll let you know

Did you fix it? I have same problem. All new equipment and wires help
