My driver door will not lock, the key fob and auto locks, lock all doors but not the driver door

the driver door actually goes 'down' and seems to lock but then is not locked. You can
lock all doors, either with the fob or on the inside of the door and all the latches go down
but the driver door is openable from the outside.

rod to latch inside door disconnected. remove panel to inspect loose hanging rod
