Add fluid, then pump the brakes. Does the brake pedal go down to the floor or feel soft/squishy? Then you have air in the system, and will need to bleed the brakes. There are plenty of YouTube videos on bleeding brakes, even working alone, in addition there are DIY kits available at auto parts stores for bleeding brakes. If you continue to lose brake fluid then you have a leak somewhere. Obviously, do not drive on the roads with low or no brake fluid.

I'd be more than mildly curious about where the brake fluid leaked out from.... The leak might get worse and empty the system while you're driving.

No, you just have to pump the brake pedal. If you're working alone they have all sorts of DIY kits that make it a simple task.
