2003 Chevy Impala cooling fan

I have a 2003 Chevy Impala has 2 fan motors one for
the engine then the other is for when the ac is on well
keep hearing noises coming from the engine bay I took
it to a shop they said it's the radatior fan on the ac side
so ac fan motor whatever but what's weird is it was
doing it even without the air even being on can someone
tell me if both fans would come on even if the air is off or
if the air fan would come on if air isn't on

The AC fan cools the condenser; not the radiator coolant. The AC works when you turn on the AC or when you select defrost/defog to dry out the cabin air, so that might be the cause. Otherwise, you could have a defective temperature switch, coolant temperature sensor, or a defect in the wiring. Have the system checked.
