have a 2003 Cavalier. While in park, the ac blows
warm air, but I can hear what sounds like a motor
run and cut off every few seconds. While I am
driving though, it starts to blow cold air. Any idea
what this may be and if its something I have to go
to the shop for or can it be fixed at home? Trying
not to go to the shop if i dont have too, but you
know how that goes.

Has the AC system ever been serviced? For a 2003, you may want to have the charge checked and system looked at. If the compressor is cycling, it may mean that your charge is low. Over time the refrigerant will leak out due to the seals drying up and letting the charge out. There are high and low pressure cut out switches that will turn off the compressor to protect itself from damage. The refrigerant charge needs to be within spec. The reason why it blows colder when you drive might be the fact that there is air crossing the condenser getting the temperatures down enough even though the compressor is still cycling. Have the system serviced at a garage unless you know someone or how to do it yourself. You need pressure gauges and I would recommend a 134a refrigerant with seal conditioner mixed in. ~Mark
