4 low won’t engage because the gear indicator won’t show it’s in neutral

Asked by GuruGX76S Aug 20, 2020 at 01:21 AM about the 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2003 Chevy Avalanche will not go in to 4
Low and I believe it is because the gear
indicator on my dash will not say that it is in
neutral. It will show that it is in every other
gear that I put it in except neutral. If I could
just find out what the problem might be that
would be very helpful. Thanks.

Scan it for trouble codes. Sounds like an electronic issue of some sort. Expect a faulty sensor or weak electrical or ground connections somewhere in the system.
