Voltage regulator on Benz 300E

Can the voltage regulator on the alternator of my Benz 300E be replaced without removing the alternator?

No, it is built in to the alternator,it will need removing to do this.

If it is Bosch, yes you can. Disconnect Battery. Unscrew nut 13mm cable. Unscrew 2 8mm, small cable, one 8mm on top of the 2nd. unscrew 3 small phillips screws on plastic cover. pry at side clips of cover. Underneath you will find Bosch voltage regulator. remove 2 screws that hold it.
