Chevy impala 3.8l v6 2004

Why cant it go on drive but i can put it on 2nd gear and
automatically it uses 1st gear then kicks to 2nd gear and
then i have to kick in 3rd gear manually myself but when i
come to a stop sign i have to do it all over again ? Someone
please help me one dis

for a car that old you might have some pressure issues with your transmission. The bands usually shift automatically because of the diaphram inside, but if it's not doing it's job it will give you fits. Find a tranny shop
