2004 Chevy Impala check engine light

Just bought ‘04 Impala. Was running fine. Guy
claimed to have put all new brake lines in. Now
engine light is on. Stopped at Auto Zone and had a
scan done. Came back it was gas cap. Day after I
bought it, I bought a new locking gas cap and
everything was fine till now (a week later) the engine
light came on. Gas cap is on right and tight. Not
understanding

What trouble code do you have. Let's start with that. There's over one hundred things that can trigger the check engine light. Jim
