1998 Toyota Rav4, will cranks as if it is going to start but doesn't. No lights wrk inside, but headlights do work. A fuse at the battery does look blown, but will that prevent car not starting?

your battery has to be newer than five...wirebrush the connection between the 1/0 battery cable and chassis ground with a coarse wirebrush and put them together...with the renewed 12.5 volts with a fresh battery on board your problems should vanish~

do a fuel pressure test on it with a guage but you can get some starting fluid and sparay into your air cleaner box while someone is cranking it if it cranks for a min it needs a fuel pump or is a furl related problem if it doesnt it could be a cam sensor or crank sensor or maybe even a computer problem take it to a mechanic professional shop

saaa, timing belt out of position probably at 100,000 miles you've lost a tooth...worn tensioner...weak spring...out of alignment and worn....calls for a cover off inspection...should have done this at 60,000 miles and frankly am surprised that it has not destroyed the engine bein' out of position~

thought of making "fashion belting" out of all the damned timing belt jobs I'd done...like the way Madonna would use oil filter seals as bangles...same Idea...'cept on our ill fated move back to wisconsin in 2002...the wife threw them away....I'll never do that number of timing belt jobs ever again~

Thanks for the PROFESSIONAL help :), I will have all these checked out. Timing belt had been changed out before, it's an old car and has been really good to me, its now at 200k plus miles. I'll let you all know the outcome.
