Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving down the road in my 1999 toyota corolla and it
started losing power and before I could pull off the engine
shut off now It want start or even turn over. I can only turn
the crankshaft half a turn. So does the mean my engine is
locked up?

Not necessarily. To be able to turn the engine freely by hand you need to remove all the spark plugs first. The reason why you can't turn the engine completely over now is because of the compression in the engine, that's a good thing! But with the spark plugs removed there's no compression so the engine will turn freely by hand. Hope that helps! Jim
