After putting a new battery in my 2006 Toyota Corolla S, the idle/engine seems too high. Is this normal?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Immediately after putting a new battery in my 2006 Toyota Corolla S, I notice that the car seems to vibrate. I'm guessing that the idle/engine is vibrating at too high of a speed. Should I be concerned about this? If you know what i should do, please help.

What I do know is that when you put a new battery in your Corolla, there is nothing that needs to be re-programmed, only the clock. A new battery and good to go, so it's not that. But yes, a vibration is not normal, and should be checked.

A new battery put out more power than an old one so your idle is going to be a little high

Thanks Chris, that worked like a charm. I replaced my battery today and was puzzled that my 2006 Corolla was now idling low. A google search lead me here and after reading your suggestion, I cleaned the intake to the throttle with a toothbrush and some gasoline, and now it idles like new.

SAME EXACT PROBLEM... and fix. It had me confused AF. All I did was change the battery, so why is the engine block trying to jump off the mounts and run away? Appreciate the help. Thanks to OP and the answer.
