Toyota engines are well- built and very reliable (One reason Lotus cars use a Toyota engine)....However, as recommended above...Have a trusted mechanic do a compression test and also check for engine noises and any leaks. This may be a 2 owner car and there's always a possibility that at least ONE of them didn't take optimal care of the car (Case in point: My GF waits too long between oil changes, despite my constant nagging).
