Our 05' Solara's owners manual says 90,000 miles for the timing belt change. But as I found out on my last visit to the dealership, Toyota also recommends it be changed out at 6-years old too. I posed my question to www.ConsumersReports.org and they agree with the dealership and say that 6-years is the recommended limit of a timing belt to be safe. I am fairly certain that the 3.3L, 4-valves per cylinder, engine is an "interference" engine and would result in severe valve damage and worse if the timing belt should fail while the engine is running. My wife's Solara is 7-years old also, so I will probably get it done at our next oil change or before.
