Brake light on the dashboard

Asked by James Dec 10, 2018 at 08:47 PM about the 1997 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My brake light has been coming on every time I
make a left bank turns but goes off when I make
right bank turns, and now it's doing it when I go
straight, fluid is fine, e brake is all the way down so
not sure what is causing this issue

Here you go Al, FIRST, top off the fluid and see if you still have the problem. The light goes on just under the max level line. If that didn't fix it you can troubleshoot it by disconnecting the plug at the fluid reservoir. The light comes on when either the parking brake or fluid switch goes to ground. Disconnecting the plugs leave an open. Both plugs disconnected = no light (unless there's a short which is unlikely). Plug in one at a time (parking brake released) to see which one throws a the light. Good luck!
