Camry 97 won't start even after replacing the alternator and battery

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Camry 97 won't start even after replacing the alternator. It died on me and
the two truck guy said it was the alternator. I replaced it and the problem
persisted. Had to two again and guy said it was alternator. Assuming I had
been sold a bad alternator, I request a refund and ordered a new one. I had
replaced the battery with a new one as well thinking the problem was the
battery so it is quite new. However, it still required a jump to start it. After
driving it for one mile, it died on me again and won't start without a jump. I
noticed the fuses that controls the front doors and windows keeps blowing off
and the steering wheel gets to hard to maneuver the car in neutral. I have
spent way too much in this car and I was wondering if it would be worthy to fix

If you can get to an Auto Zone, they will test both your alt and battery for free. If it is your alternator, AutoZone sells crappy rebuilt ones to brand new lifetime warranty ones. Their crappy ones sometimes fail right out of the box. Blowing fuses usually means a wiring issue of some kind, like the alt is hooked up wrong or it's the wrong alt. If your new alt doesn't fix things, the only way I can see getting this straightened out fast and easy is if you can find someone who is well-versed on repair who knows older camrys who helps you for free. Hopefully some mechanic comes on here and gives you straight info how to easily check things and gets you up and running, or just get another older camry... cause they are still one of the best cars out there. Either way, please post results no matter how it goes.
