Engine and transmission

Asked by Stevenstratton16 Jan 28, 2017 at 10:20 PM about the 1994 Toyota Camry LE Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1994 Toyota Camry 4cl the transmission
went out. I can buy a 2001 camry for parts only. My
question is would the engine and transmission and
wiring harness from the 2001 fit in the 1994?

I am not sure if it will fit or not but it would not run or work. The '94 has a OBD1 computer to run & control the engine & trany, the '01 vehicle has an OBDII computer that does this. And you do not even want to think of switching the computers from one vehicle to the other. Just would be a total nigh-mare.

Have you considered the price of a good used tyranny from a auto scrap yard?
