Will engine oil in my transmission emission hurt my tranny

Asked by Frustratedfrannky Mar 11, 2020 at 12:02 AM about the 1998 Toyota Camry XLE V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I accidentally (my wife) put about 1/4 of a quart of 5w30
oil in the transmission. Let's say 1/2 quart to be closer to
the bottles contents into the transmission. Now the tranny
drain bolts stripped and I'm afraid to move my car as I
don't want to damage the tranny what can I do .....

Engine oil in an automatic could ruin it. I would not even start the engine. Drain and refill the ATF, start it and run for a few minutes and then drain and refill again. If you are afraid to deal with it have it towed to a shop.

Indeed. Fill it up. Start the engine. Drain. Temp solution. See a mechanic since not all can be drained. Some stays under the pan. Change the filter too.
