I was in an accident in my 2004 Subaru outback, the car that hit me, hit the front passenger side so hard that the tire was at a 45 degree angle to the body. After having the "wreck damage" repaired, the body shop informed me that I have a rack and pinion leak on the driver's side. It was not doing this before, can this be attributed to the wreck?

I think your biggest concern is if this impact bent the frame of the car. If it did, sell it and replace the car. Cars with bent frames have stability problems and don't track well down the road. If you've ever seen a car on the road looking like a "crab" walking away from you, you'll have seen what I mean. There is no way to fix that.
