I have a 2000 Subaru Outback Wagon with 132K. It is slow to engage in drive when I back out of my driveway and go from reverse to drive. Thoughts?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car almost feels as though it is slipping out of drive into neutral. It only happens in
drive and only sometimes. I am not able to replicate it (fortunately), but would love any
thoughts on what it might be.

Yep, as Judge Roy said, have a transmission flush done. If that doesn't remmedy the issue it's time for a transmission rebuild because your right. Something in the transmission is not staying engaged to put it in the proper gear.
