I think it's a good idea to change the timing belt with the water pump while you have it apart. Sort of a preventive maintenance measure on engine like this where the belt will need replaced at 100,000 miles and it's labor intensive just trying to get to it. They will have the belt off anyway so there should not be more labor cost. And the belt itself is only $25.

Agree with above, not necessary, but well worth it since you'll have front of engine apart anyhow.
