Chevy cobalt won’t start

Asked by Help_Libs Nov 08, 2020 at 12:20 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 06 cobalt, the alternator, battery, and
starter have been replaced. Alt and battery
was definitely necessary. We replaced the
starter bc my car was making an awful noise
at start up and after the battery was replaced
would sometimes not start right away. But
now my car will not start at all, the awful
sound did go away. It turns over but no spark.

So, in the future, trouble shoot first, then replace parts. With that said, have you scanned it for trouble codes? The cars computer may know what's wrong and is just waiting to be asked. The awful noise at start up could be a timing chain issue. Do not ignore that. If the chain skips you will end up with bent valves and a car that's probably not worth repairing. I speak from experience on that one.
