I have a sohc 2.5 2004 forester. It has 256,000 miles on it and the motor is
knocking like crazy. What year motor can i use, the interchange says 2004 only.
Can I use a 2006 sohc forester motor?

2004 would be best. Other years can be done but you may run into issues that can be difficult to resolve.
