About $2,000.00, it also depends what you want attached to the engine. You can have your old one re-built for half the price at a local rebuilder, or Ebay may have one.

$2,000 is way too low. Costs for a rebuilt engine could run $3,000 to $5,000 PLUS labor. A new engine from Subaru would likely be much higher. These days it is hard to find a good shop that still rebuilds engines as crate engines are cheaper. http://ccrengines.com/# http://ccrengines.com/#

Don't trust anyone who says could be. Could be 3000. Could be 5000. When someone says "could be" he does not know. A person who says definitively, The cost is between $4000 and $4500 is he's giving you a precise range. I would never trust a mechanic to rebuild or overhaul an engine. Mechanics don't do that enough. Plus they cut corners. Unless you are there watching every step of the job, you will never know what the mechanic did, you will only know what the mechanic says he did.

Cost vary from shop to shop and also by what needs to be done to the engine, the source of parts, labor rates etc, etc. so NO you cannot give an exact cost, only a fool would say that you could.

You cannot give a precise cost, but you can give a precise range. You nitwit. Words such as "about," "around," "approximately," "a number of," "substantially," "close to," "near," "far," "large," "small," "almost," mean absolutely nothing. If you were my employee, I would write you a paycheck in the amount of "about $400" to watch you have fun trying to cash it. Who knows, maybe a bak would give you $350 since that is about $400.

Clearly you have no clue. Try Yahoo if you want to spew garbage.
