My car is a 2002 Grand prix and I'm having the same problem.What can be done for this?

Use the spare key (if you have one) ..because the battery inside your key may be low

You'll have to be towed to your local GM Dealer for repair. If this is a new key and you do not have a working spare key you can't program it yourself. Also, your Grand Prix uses a transponder key. So a cheap non transponder key won't work either. Nor will the "relearn procedure". HTH. -Jim

Most good locksmiths will come to your home and get you going /// it may not be cheap but no where near what your dealer charges ALSO check your road service insurance (if you have it) ... they will sometimes cover towing if that becomes necessary
