Car stalling

I have a 2000 Grand Prix gt and the car will start
and then it will stall out but  and then it will not run
at full power or the rpm gauge will race which
cause the engine to over heat Can u give me some
tips on things I should change or try

is it using coolant ? pull the oil fill cap and look at the bottom tell us what you see . what does the exhaust look like ?
