I have a 99 supercharged grand prix gtp and the
stock air box has a big metal thing with wires
connected to it. What is it? And im trying to take it
out to put a aftermarket cold air intake in

That is the engine management computer. It needs to be kept cool by incoming air, but has to stay dry. Either make a ducted box to enclose it or get a kit that the ECU fits into.
