Asked by Jkenney16 Aug 18, 2017 at 09:46 AM about the 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix 2 Dr GT Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix gt coupe
but recently I found a 1997 Pontiac Grand
Prix gtp (supercharged engine) that I would
like to put into my 98 gt what work would
need to be done to make it fit or would I
just be able to lower and mount it in no
problem?

Both are 3.8L, and should swap easily in mounts. 98 was the year they switched from 60E to 65E transmission, you may want to swap both as a combo (not sure if you can reflash your 98's computer to work with the 97) in fact I'd swap over the the computer too, and compare the harnesses for differences, exp. regarding sensors and sending units.
