how do i get off the battery from my pontiac grand am the lock to keep it in place just spins and spins and spins i even tried to lif it off but nothing is there anything that i can do without having to spend hundreds going to a shop

Are you needing to replace your battery? If so, cut off the head of the screw holding the clamp in place, do your battery swap, and then re-secure the retainer as Ed92626 suggested by buying a new clamp or using larger hardware.
