Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have an 01 grand am that had the passlock bypassed and i replaced the
cylinder not knowing the security was bypassed so the key wouldnt program
to the bcm. after a few tries not knowing it was bypassed i lost power to my
bcm and pcm which killed the gauge cluster too ive undone the bypass and
rewired it like its supposed to be i want to know how to restore power to
those fuses so i can program my new key and use the car. nathaniel blair is
a member here that i seen say something about it i would love his help
because he seemed to know what was going on. i just need my car running

The way the system is designed is you must have one working key to program additional keys yourself. Without a working key you either have to bypass the security system again or have the vehicle towed to your local GM Dealer for repairs. Hope that helps! Jim

i bypassed the starter and believe i have bad connections in the ignition switch because i took it apart and now occasionally the dash wont work along with a few other things. when it does work the security light does not flash. wether i have it wired right or have an adjustable resistor wired in. i dont fully understand it just the power mainly. i understand an analog signal is sent to the bcm. idk what that means but i know its how you bypass it. according to the adjustable resistance knob already spliced in. so my setup i turn the key to on to give everything power and push a button to start. it will start and stall out like security stuff says online. but no flashing or solid security light. it just comes on with the test for a second when the key first comes on. i also do not have a radio and i know you use it to disable it and it is also wired to the security. what i want to know is what is the signal the bcm recieves from the ignition to allow the pcm to work? and how do i know what my bcm expects in order to accept it. and is there a possible way to bypass the bcm and send the all clear sign to the pcm like the bcm recieved the right code? id like to have everything wired to a switch taking the ignition cylinder and maybe even switch completely out so its switch then button to start like a race car. the security being funky is holding me back cause it kills my injectors once it decides the codes are wrong.i got a gm book for the car but it doesnt go into deep detail on the passlock system i need extreme details so i can understand it
