1998 Mitsubishi Crank but sometimes starts

Asked by Zach Jun 12, 2020 at 07:16 PM about the 1998 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 4 Dr LS SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 98 mitsubishi montero sport v6 3.0.

Early morning car will start and drive for a little bit, then itll
completely lose power to the accelerator and die. Itll start
back up and then die soon after and then itll just crank and
crank.

I had a check engine code showing Fuel Injector Pressure
Regulator (Replaced it and didnt work).

I sprayed starting fluid on filter and it started up hesitant
and died again. Tried a few minutes later and it started fine,
then died after 30 seconds.

Very strange problem, I drove it for about 45 minutes the
other day, died at stops a few times and then died when
driving once.

I notice when it died itll sputter out when stopping or just
completely lose power to the accelerator as if it was never
on.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Idle air control valve. Or censor. My Montero did the same crap. Easy fix took me ten minutes to take out and replace. Most shops have to order it though. But go to autozone or oriellys and look idle aur control and it should pop up
