Car not starting

Asked by acehood110191 May 11, 2015 at 04:14 PM about the 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis 4 Dr GS Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car will start an unpredictable number
of times when the fuel pump relay and the
ac cutout relays are tinkered with.

I have new battery new starter new solenoid
new fuses new fuel pump relay new battery
terminal eyeloops new alternator . I have
tightened all teeth on relay boxes I've
cleaned all ground wires and tightened.
Theft prove out is good keys are good
ignition and transceiver good etc.

Any ideas? Desperate

inspect the underside of the power distribution box that has the fuel pump relay for corrosion or loose wires, also check the condition of all ground connections.

Replace spark plugs if not working get new coil packs/spark plug wire/connectors whatever u wanna call it....

Let me ask y'all this. I cleaned the relay box ground really good but it didn't start. I then pulled the relay and put it back in. The car has been starting ever since. Is there any possibility that after the ground was put back I kind of reset it by pulling and plugging relay back in? In other words did I fix the problem by cleaning the ground wire even though it didn't start immediately after?
