air bag light comes on after startup

Asked by Guru9CNR8M Aug 08, 2021 at 11:40 AM about the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

air bag light comes on at startup, for 7 seconds. goes out for 2 seconds,
comes back on and stays on.
1 checked fuses in under dash panel..OK
2 checked and replugged the connections under the driver seat.  OK
3 replaced Clock Spring....

no change in air bag light being on.

what did I miss?

You need to scan the airbag computer for trouble codes. To do that you need a scan tool that will communicate with the airbag computer. A run of the mill code reader won't be able to do that. The trouble code will tell you what is wrong. The airbag computer doesn't store the trouble codes so the airbag light must be on when you scan the system. Hope that helps! Jim
