Check engine light

Asked by Astout1055 Mar 13, 2019 at 09:30 PM about the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Check engine light came on. I've gotten it read. Changed
the gas cap because it never clicked, I know it may be
something else but do the check engine lights turn off on
their own or do I have to have it cleared to see if it fixed it?
They never cleared it when I got it read so it has stayed on.

Do you know about how long? If I'm past the time frame of it going off I want to move to the next step.

an EVAP system fault such as a leaky gas cap will take a few drive cycles and it might help if you drive with half to 3/4 full tank
