How do I know if my drive train, rear end or transmission is going out on my 2003 jeep grand cherokee

my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee does a couple of weird things, 1) back tires seem
to spin when I take off sometimes, not every time. 2) there has been a god awful
metal to metal grinding noise somewhere sometimes. It has 92000 miles and I
bought it brand new. Serviced (personally) regularly. I don't know if it's the drive
train, rear end or transmission. Please can somebody help me.
